The Clairemont History Committee presents a panel discussion on Clairemont’s canyonlands and open spaces. From 12:10–12:30 PM, audience members are invited to share their stories. From 12:30–2:30 PM, the panel will discuss the history of local canyons, community involvement, current uses, and planning for their future. Speakers include Steven Smith, Park Ranger, on animal life, habitats, trails and recreation; Sherlie Miller of Friends of Tecolote on the history of preserving open spaces; and Glen Schmidt of the Clairemont Community Planning Group on efforts to maximize public parkland in the community plan update, including funding challenges and private canyons.
