Adapted from the Marlowe and Goethe and Our F***ed Up World By Madeline Sayet
The story of the legent, Faust, was originally adapted by Christopher Marlowe (1588-1590) and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1808-1832). The legend tells the tale of a scholar, Faust/Faustus, who sells his soul to Mephistopholes for knowledge and power.
The adaptation by Marlowe, Doctor Faustus is a tragedy from the Renaissance period which focuses on pride and damnation. Goethe’s Faust is from the Romantic era and focuses on redemption through eternal striving.
Our collaborator and director, Madeline Sayet, aims to adapt a new twist onto the classic tale, featuring our 13 Master of Fine Arts students.
