We’re Colleen and Ronda, partners in life and business, and we’re thrilled to share the story of Doggowash.

Our story begins in 2018, when we embarked on a trip to Australia in search of healing and peace after the devastating loss of Ronda’s only child, Dustin. During this time of reflection and healing, we stumbled upon the concept of self-serve dog washes—a discovery that offered a spark of hope and new direction in our lives. Inspired by this simple yet brilliant concept, we returned home with the idea of bringing self-serve dog washes to the U.S.

We spent the next year tirelessly searching for the perfect location in our beloved hometown of San Diego, even though we were living in Seattle at the time. After countless efforts, we finally found a location, that we could afford, on a corner in Ocean Beach—an empty parking lot that welcomed our vision. With the support of family and friends, we placed our first two machines there in December 2019 and operated Doggowash remotely for the next six months before moving back to San Diego.

What began as a temporary setup in a parking lot turned into a three-year journey that exceeded our expectations. In 2022, we moved Doggowash from the parking lot to a permanent location in Bay Park, and in 2023, we expanded to indoor locations in La Mesa and Pacific Beach, and in 2025 we’re opening a North Park location.

We affectionately refer to our business as “the divine doggowashes” because this concept was discovered during a difficult time in our lives and has since grown to become a source of purpose and fulfillment for us. Doggowash isn’t just a business for us; it’s an opportunity for us to learn and grow as we continue to expand Doggowash locations and service offerings for our customers.
