San Diego Sky Tours is a veteran-run commercial tour company motivated by a passion for aviation. All of San Diego Sky Tours sightseeing flights are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.
San Diego Sky Tours began in 2009 as part of a college business plan competition and a dream to establish a locally based leader in aerial adventures. James “Cap” Kapenas (USMC) and his then partner Ryan “Big Daddy” Poortinga (USAF) came to Montgomery-Gibbs Field with a single engine Cessna and a vision. Through the creative insight of Erich “Fox” Moulder (USN), several biplanes joined the fleet, making it possible to not only offer leisurely tours along the coast, but adrenaline-pumping aerobatic and air-combat tours!
Offering aerial tours, air combat experience, biplane beach and bay tours, and extreme acrobatics rides.
We are on a mission to inspire a love of aviation and to share our aviation expertise with our customers and our community.
Our goal is to provide each customer with a unique and insightful sightseeing tour of the most popular landmarks in San Diego. We strive to ensure that each guest has an unforgettable experience with an increased understanding of aviation.
