Details
An arched doorway guides visitors into the main lobby of the library, featuring Mission-style architecture and furniture throughout the building. In designing the space, architect M. W. Rusty Coombs took inspiration from the Spanish Revival and Craftsman movements. The library opened in 2006 with an environment focus, constructed using recycled materials and with native plant landscaping. A fenced-off area behind the library is home to a sensitive habitat for vernal pools. Several patios, a community room and a seminar room provide space for special events and large gatherings. In addition, the library features an outdoor play area designed in cooperation with First 5 San Diego.
