BAY PARK
About Bay Park
Bay Park, with sweeping views of Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean, is one of San Diego's most desirable neighborhoods. It's nestled between Bay Ho and the Morena District in the westernmost point of Clairemont.
Bay Park blends quaint original homes with remodeled luxury residences. It has a variety of local businesses, eateries, and shops, many along the main drag of Morena Boulevard.
This is a small neighborhood with a big sense of community.
History
Bay Park's history begins in 1887, when it was first mapped as a 1,200 acre subdivision by the Morena Company. They named it the Morena Subdivision.
In 1936, the single-family Bay Park Village Subdivision was developed. As the area grew and its boundaries extended circa mid-century, the name was shortened to Bay Park.
Today
While many longtime residents of Bay Park like to consider their neighborhood its own enclave, Bay Park is technically part of Clairemont.
It extends along Morena Boulevard on its western edge, and includes portions of southern Clairemont Drive. Its eastern boundary abuts Tecolote Canyon, near Tecolote Golf Course.
Fun Facts
- Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, went to Bay Park Elementary School.
