COMMUNITY NEWS
Mt. Ariane Fire
On Tuesday, June 24, a fire broke out in Tecolote Canyon. It was dubbed the Mt. Ariane Fire because it was in the vicinity of Mt. Ariane Drive and Mt. Ariane Terrace. The fire burned five acres and crept dangerously close to homes, putting much of the neighborhood on evacuation standby. Two homes were under evacuation orders. Fire crews responded swiftly and successfully contained the blaze, preventing any damage to homes. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Special thanks to Peter Kosen for snapping this amazing shot.

Goats Gone Wild
Speaking of putting out fires, SDG&E hired goats to graze on vegetation that has high potential to create fire hazards. Approximately 300 of these critters were let loose to munch on the dry brush as a form of fire abatement. The goats are quite popular and now even have their own page on the ‘gram if you want to give them a follow. Speaking of Instagram, give us a follow while you’re there as well!
This great photo was taken by our neighbor, Laura McKenna.

On Vacation
It’s officially summer, and that means many of you have plans to vacation out of town for a few days, or maybe even weeks. Stressing about leaving the house without anyone to watch over it? Did you know that the San Diego Police Department’s RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol) can check in on your home while you’re away? The check includes:
- Scan for property damage
- Ensuring doors and windows are secure
- Scan for evidence of intruders
