🥳 Hey Neighbor!
It’s the first day of a new year, which means the start of new resolutions for many. I’ve never been a big resolutions type of person, but I do start each new year with the hope that it will be better than the last.
This year, I hope to continue making strides with the newsletter and the website. I also continue to be grateful for your support.
This edition of the newsletter is being sent on a new platform, so fingers crossed, it all goes without a hitch.
Wishing you and yours an excellent 2026!
One quick question before we dive into the news. I’m looking at organizing some in-person events this year. Would you be interested?

Bay Park Friends Unite to Create Bay Park Community Council
It started as a little idea while waiting in line at the restrooms at Mission Hills’ Fourth of July event. Close friends Michelle Bellon and Megan Schuck felt Bay Park was missing something by not having its own regular events that could connect the community.
Two weeks later, the Bay Park Community Council was officially incorporated. With a Bay Park After Dark movie night on the schedule and a neighborhood block party in the works for the summer, these Bay Park moms have big plans to bring the community together through events, meetups, and local service projects.

Out With the Old
Almost 80% of Americans have fake versus real Christmas trees, but if you’re in the 20% and are looking for a place to dump it, here are the city’s nearest Christmas tree recycling locations:
- Mission Bay: SeaWorld Drive at Pacific Highway
- Pacific Beach: Kate Sessions Memorial Park, corner of Mt. Soledad Rd. and Loring St.
- Tierrasanta: Tierrasanta Community Park at 1120 Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
- University City: Standley Community Park parking lot at 3585 Governor Dr.
Calling All Bibliophiles
Looking for a way to keep your kids (or yourself) entertained this winter? Enter the San Diego Public Library’s Winter Reading Challenge to evoke your inner bibliophile. The challenge offers prizes for all ages who complete different activities, including museum passes and Wingstop freebies. The challenge runs from January 1 to January 31. You can register online or at your nearest library.

The market remained fairly steady in most neighborhoods, except for Bay Park and Serra Mesa, which both experienced dramatic swings in average days on market.

Meet the Cutest Pet in the Neighborhood Contest!
Junie B reigned victorious in our recent Cutest Pet in the Neighborhood contest. With that adorable mug, you can see why!
This is Junie B’s second big win in her life. The first was being rescued from the Envigo breeding facility in Virginia. The government shut down the facility in 2023, saving approximately 4,000 beagles, including Junie B.
Eight of those dogs were taken in by Second Chance Dog Rescue, where Shannon’s mom volunteers. After Junie B’s original foster parent was a no-show, Shannon took her in—and kept her—making Junie B an official foster fail.
