It’s Still Happy Hour + New Italian Eatery

Hey Neighbors!

I got a little excited about a rainy day last week. Turns out it wasn’t much, and it looks like we have more dry weather in store for the fall and winter as we experience La Niña. She brings wet weather to the north and drier weather to Southern California, unlike her indiscriminate wet relative, El Niño.

So put that umbrella back in the rear of whatever closet you store it.

On to this week’s news. It’s full of more delectable happy hours and swapping out one Italian restaurant for another–in the exact same location.

Let me know your thoughts!

COMMUNITY NEWS

Opening

I just announced the closing of La Pastaia in the Clairemont Village Shopping Center. In a quick turnaround, there are already signs up for another Italian restaurant in the same space. Romanella will serve dishes native to the Rome region of Italy. Their social media is up, but no word on an opening date. I’ll keep you posted when I find out.

Clairemont Community Plan Update

Last week, Sean McGee, the San Diego community planner who is overseeing the Clairemont Community Plan Update (CCPU), presented his proposal to the City Planning Commission. While there has been significant pushback from residents regarding the extended height limits for buildings in Clairemont, the commission overwhelmingly favors easing height restrictions as part of the new plan.

The entire meeting can be viewed here. Residents have until September 14 to submit feedback to the updated community plan, which is accessible on the Clairemont Plan website.

The CCPU will be an agenda topic at tonight’s Clairemont Town Council meeting. The meeting is scheduled for 6 pm at the Cathy Hoopper Friendship Center, located at 4425 Bannock Ave.

Meet Roman

This lovable dude is Roman, an 8 1/2 year old Frenchie who’s ready to find his way to your heart. He’s good with kids, but would prefer to be a solo act as the pet in your household. Roman is available for adoption at the Gaines Street Humane Society.
