Hey Neighbor!
It’s Super Bowl weekend, the dead of winter, and hotter than summer. 🤷♀️ Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so is it love in the air, or is that allergies?
Enjoy this week’s newsletter, packed with V-Day ideas, a solid calendar of events, and more.

Celebrate with a heart-shaped pizza, wine in a wooden goblet, or upside down in an airplane. Or don’t. Either way, we won’t judge.

Thrilling & Tantalizing Ways to Spend Valentine’s in San Diego

🚀 Rocket Man

If you’ve ever noticed the SpaceX rocket launches in our skies, you know it’s a pretty cool sight to see. Keep your eyes peeled for three upcoming Falcon 9 launches. Unfortunately, only one is at night, and you’ll only see it if you’re a night owl. Here’s the schedule:
- Saturday, February 7, between 9:05 am and 1:05 pm
- Wednesday, February 11, between 6:07 am and 10:07 am
- Sunday, February 15, between 12 am and 4 am
🧺 Meet the Clairemont Couple Turning a Chore Into a Career
Mistie and Steve Osterhage gladly do something most people hate, and they’ve become the nation’s number one provider of their services for Poplin. What is Poplin? It’s essentially the Uber of laundry services.
Steve and Mistie converted the spare bedroom in their Clairemont home into a laundry room, running loads of laundry up to 15 hours a day. Read how this gig economy job supports a local family.
🏅County of San Diego Community Enhancement Program Awards Grants to Two Neighborhood Organizations
Love, Linda Vista and the Serra Mesa Community Council were awarded CEP grants of $10,000 and $1,000, respectively, to support local events. The SMCC funds will be used to support the annual Serra Mesa Block Party, hosted by local resident John Marsh in July. Love, Linda Vista will use its funds for cultural performances, music, and neighborhood events. More money=more neighborhood fun.
😇 Guilty—Until Proven Innocent
The University of San Diego recently launched its Innocence Clinic, a program designed to identify incarcerated people who are innocent and help them get out of prison. USD law students offer their services at no charge in hopes of exonerating the innocent so they can be free to lead normal lives again.

Can you guess the price of this week’s Serra Mesa home?
The neighborhood real estate market held fairly steady this past week, with a couple of dips in days on market and a sharp rise in one neighborhood. For a deeper dive in your zip code, head to the detailed market report.

Meet JJ
JJ is an independent three-year-old kitty who enjoys being your companion, but isn’t really a lap cat. He’s the perfect pet for someone seeking low-maintenance companionship (sounds like a dating profile). Snag him at the San Diego Humane Society.
