Hey Neighbor!
I missed sending the newsletter out on April Fool’s Day, so I didn’t get to play any practical jokes on you. A fellow newsletter operator sent his newsletter to subscribers yesterday, featuring an elaborate plan for a casino in his townβcomplete with blueprints. It was all a joke, but he ended up with people from the city calling to ask what was going on.
I consideredβonly for a brief secondβsending something along the lines of a new, massive ADU project, but decided I didn’t want to give anyone a heart attack. So consider yourself spared!
Last week’s polling indicated y’all were terrible at guessing the home price (π)β70% got it wrong. But 86% of you said you’re excited about the Explorer Exclusive deals. Yay!
Let’s dig into this week’s news.

San Diego musician Adam Jones has deep ties to the neighborhood. He grew up in Bay Park, performed at the old Linda Vista SOMA as a teenager, and honed his skills performing at the Blarney Stone Pub in Clairemont for many years.
He lives outside our neighborhood now, but he comes back to perform regularly at Fast Times Bar & Grill on the first Wednesday of each month. And the memories of the neighborhood are never far from his heart.

π Clairemont Ranked as One of San Diego’s Most Desirable Neighborhoods
Not to brag or anything, but Clairemont is apparently kind of a big deal. The real estate website Houzeo just ranked Clairemont among the county’s top four most desirable neighborhoods. Ranking factors included median home price, rent prices, and livability.
Comings & Goings
πͺπΌ The Challenge Center recently opened in Kearny Mesa. It offers physical therapy, adaptive fitness and wellness programs, and senior-specific fitness and wellness programs. The Challenge Center is located at 9596 Chesapeake Drive.
π« The Mail Bank postal store, located in the Madison Place shopping center on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, is closing at the end of May. Madison Place was recently purchased by new owners. It’s the same strip mall that houses STP Bar-N- Grill, Victory MMA & Fitness, and the Golf Bar.
π₯³ If you’ve been missing Party City, it’s back. Kind of. You can now find Party City sharing space inside Staples, located at 4240 Kearny Mesa Road.
ποΈ Serra Mesan Hoping to Change Name of Park to Honor His Mom
Murray Ridge Park in Serra Mesa only became a park because of the tenacity of one Serra Mesa resident, Peggy Lacy. She gathered signatures and petitioned the City to turn a former landfill into the park it is today. Now, her son, Greg Scott, is petitioning to have the park named in her honor. Councilmember Raul Campillo is pushing to make this happen, and you can contact him to show your support.
π³οΈ The City Wants to Hear From You (or at least they say they do)
The City is looking for input from residents in a 2027 budget survey. It’s a quick five minutes if you feel so inclined.

This custom home at 3590 Chasewood Drive, 92111, in Clairemont was entirely rebuilt in 2022. It features 3BR, 2.5BA in 2,335 sq ft of living space. Vaulted ceilings and folding doors to the saltwater pool and jacuzzi create an indoor/outdoor living experience. Owned solar and EV charging make for optimal energy efficiency. California living at its finest!

Meet Rita
She’s an oldie, but a goodie. Clocking in at nearly 12 years old, Rita should be living her best life resting in someone’s lap, not at the shelter. She’s shy and gentle, and would make a purr-fect companion to someone who matches her calm demeanor. She’s waiting for you at the San Diego Humane Society.
