Hey Neighbor!
Okay, I’m a day late and a dollar short. Or should I say a Euro short since I’m still traveling in Europe? Wifi is spotty here, and I couldn’t get it working yesterday, hence the delay. Did you notice it didn’t come out yesterday?
To make up for my late send, here’s a gorgeous photo of Budapest. I’m officially in love with the city.

Let’s dig into this week’s news.

Kearny Mesa’s Convoy District is something of an accidental food paradise, born of racial adversity. Today, it is THE spot where new restaurants want to be, offering an eclectic and delicious mix of Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, and, yes, even American foods.
Read how a dark past eventually turned the Convoy District into a shining beacon.

Serra Mesa Mixed Living Development Opens
DEZI, a new development by CityMark in Serra Mesa that combines apartments for lease with townhomes for sale, recently opened. One and two-bedroom apartments are available for move-in next month, while they currently have an interest list for their upcoming sale of townhomes this summer. Townhomes will start in the high $900,000s.
Bowling is Back
Locals have mourned the shuttering of Sunset Bowl in Clairemont and Kearny Mesa Bowl. Fortunately, Clairemont Pins and Pixels is slated to open soon in the Diane Village Shopping Center at 4676-4722 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The website says the spot will feature mini bowling and arcade games. Typically, mini bowling refers to only a couple of lanes that are smaller and narrower than standard lanes. Regardless, the community is excited about this one, as shown by our recent Instagram post.
Clairemont Man Convicted of Murder
On Tuesday, Jamal Aytes pleaded guilty to stabbing and killing his mother in their Clairemont apartment in 2024. He faces up to life imprisonment at his upcoming sentencing.

Meet Nimbus
Nimbus is a nearly two-year-old Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle dog mix, which means he’s likely one smart puppy. But he does have some challenges—he has visual and hearing issues. But he’s still a major love bug and will take to you like white lint on black pants! Pay him a visit at the San Diego Humane Society.
