Hey Neighbor!
This week was the first day of fall, y’all! Did you feel it in the air? I felt like it instantly got darker on the evening of September 22 when fall officially kicked off. I love fall, but hate early dark nights.
Since I’ve got some new writers on board, I feel like a proper introduction is necessary, so this week’s feature is on our newest freelancer, and I’m excited about his energy for community news.
I also added a new Explorer Exclusive to our offers, and if you want to check out Bark Bath Dog Wash, here’s a sneak peek into their local biz. The owner, Cassidy, is excited to be a part of the community and to serve its dogs and their owners, so show them some love!

Insurance Hikes on the Horizon
If you’ve relied on California’s FAIR Plan insurance rates, be prepared for a 29% increase this October. The highest insurance rate increase in recent history goes into effect October 15. If this has been your plan of choice because other insurance plans have left the state or increased your premiums, now is the time to re-evaluate your coverage, and McNeilly Insurance can help.
Read more about the FAIR Plan rate increase and what you can do to prepare, or contact Clairemont resident and local insurance expert, Michael McNeilly, to discuss your options.
As Explore Clairemont grows, along with the community’s desire for more in-depth coverage of the stories that matter to our neighborhoods (and often overlooked by “big media”), the need to add more writers is clear.
So, meet our newest freelance writer and Clairemont resident, Michael Angelo Hernandez. Michael Angelo moved to Clairemont in 2021, currently serves on the Clairemont Community Planning Group, and is passionate about the community issues that affect our local neighborhoods.
Read more of his story and how his pursuit of a political science degree turned into a passion for writing.

In 2027, the club, which was established in 1961, will get a Padres-themed ball park, technology upgrades, and new programming, to serve primarily low-income youth in the area. They recently made a similar appeal to the Clairemont Community Planning Group for their store at 3095 Clairemont Drive. If approved, both stores will offer sales of liquor for off-site consumption.

Meet London
One-year-old London is a Labrador Retriever mix who’s ready to jump right into your heart. This sweet girl has been at the shelter almost her whole life, and came in fearful. She’s now become quite social and loves to play. She’s ready for her furever home (and so is her sister), so please visit her today at the San Diego Humane Society.
